Learning Objective 2
Create and teach a lesson plan for children on bullying
-
Researched bullying and ways to prevent it
-
Worked with my supervisor to get some ideas
Evidence Overview:
Bullying is a major problem with kids and I think that everyone should treat others they way they want to be treated. I highly value treating others with kindness so I put together a bullying presentation to show to the 3rd and 4th graders at State Street Elementary School. I believe that the more children that know what bullying is and what they can do about it that the less bullying will take place. It only takes one person to make a difference so even if one person learned something from it then I accomplished my goal. I made a bullying poster that will explain what bullying is, examples of bullying, who is involved, what the children getting bullied can do, and some facts that I thought were important to know about bullying. I created two interactive activities to help reinforce the bullying lesson. I made a buddy or bully activity where I listed some actions that I would read. I wrote bullets such as cares about how other people feel and laughs when other people mess up and then asked the kids if it would be considered being a buddy or bully. I then created a column for buddy and one for bully. I had the kids add to the list by having them write down some buddy and bully descriptions. I ended the presentation by creating an Anti-Bullying Pledge and had kids write their name and something they learned on the foam hand. They decorated it and then added it to the anti-bullying tree poster. I created a slideshow that shows the bullying lesson plan so please check it out and enjoy!
Evidence:
I created a bullying poster to explain bullying, created buddy vs bully activities, and made an anti-bullying pledge for the children to sign.
